Building a source of truth
In 2019, I joined FullStory and lead the efforts towards building their first-ever design system in Figma. FullStory was then, a 5-year-old C-level startup known for session replay. They had recently come off the heels of a major fundraising round and were committed to using that money to grow the business and evolve the product. During this time of hyper-growth, there was a lot of excitement in the air, but as we grew, we needed better ways of working together.
Our cross-functional design and engineering squad met on a weekly basis and began working towards building FullStory’s first design system. In just 2 months, we built a system comprised of foundational components and patterns that we leveraged to optimize our workflows.
After 2 months of some rigorous audits, meetings, and jamming in Figma we had our first draft in design and code
